MORE GREAT VIEWS

Although we do not have any pictures of a memorable evening with Pam, who Hanna met 9 years ago in South Africa, and her fiancé, and neither of our drive through gorgeous Stanley Park, probably the city's most beautiful spot, here are some other great views we enjoyed.

WHAT IS WORK

for some, is play time for others. Samu had a blast (we think). He had so many things to do and see in our hotel room and beyond. For example, he practiced pulling himself up and crawling. He is so good at both of them now, we are having a hard time keeping up.

The shock we feel when he is nowhere to be seen ... and then the relief when we see him giggle under a chair ...

Trip to Gastown and Chinatown. Nice!

One of seven (!) sushi meals. Vancouver is the sushi metropolis. Who knew?

THE CENTER

The gigantic conference event was hosted by multiple hotels, but the center of it all was the Vancouver Convention Center: two huge buildings, 20 000 people and a great view.

Opening reception

Opening plenary: Linda Smith! This year's theme: Non satis scire/ To know is not enough. VERY inspiring.

Hanna on the panel :-)

TRAVEL BUG

Last Friday we embarked on our first Canadian adventure to attend a biiiig (the biggest?) education research conference (AERA) in Vancouver and - maybe - reduce our workload for a little. The trip there was great. Samu is the best little travel bug we could imagine. He slept, ate and was quite excited. The trip back was even better. He was all smiles and entertained by/entertaining everyone who passed by his seat. What an awesome kid!
