This week was all about pumpkins. In "true American" fashion, we bought, carved, and ate pumpkins whenever possible. This Sunday's family trip brought us to the Lookout Farm, where we had the most wonderful day: Apples for picking, pumpkins for carving, and a ton of family-friendly activities including hayrides, a petting zoo, and a maze. Perfect day!
On the train to the apple orchards.
Peaches (or peach trees, rather) to our left, apples to our right, grapes over our heads.
The petting zoo
The play area - almost made us forget that we came here to pick apples.
Yes, these are camels!
But Samu preferred a pony for his ride.
Lunch under the red tree.
We beat all the lines and got our own private hayride!
Samu led us successfully through the maze.
And we loved the views of the orchards.
Playing in the hay was fun for everyone.
We finally also did some apple picking.
And we got a bunch of free pumpkins to take home.
Our bounty.
Nummy!
Pumpkin carving has become a new family favorite in our home. It all started with one trial owl-pumpkin, but everyone liked it so much that we were soon doing one pumpkin per day.
Owl, witch, and -
Dora the explorer!
Getting ready for Abe's birthday party this Saturday, we used all our new skills: Samu wrote the card himself!
And Hanna, inspired by the party theme, carved a teenage ninja turtle pumpkin.
The party was a lot of fun. So many kids, so many ninja turtles - even on the bouncy house!
Happy birthday, Abraham!
We enjoyed the party so much, that we went back to Abe's place to play some more later that day. Thank you to our lovely and generous hosts Kate and Matt for having and feeding us -- twice!
Have a wonderful new week, everyone!
