NEW VISITORS, NEW YEAR

According to Samu's calendar ...

at the end of December, it was time for Kobi and Kathi's long awaited visit to our house. Welcome!

It was so great to have them with us for a while. We got to do a lot of things we rarely get to do.

Or morning cocktails.

Although the weather was not on our side, Kathi, Kobi, and Hanna spent a lovely day in and around Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market.

In the evening, we all had pizza and discovered "ice-skating" in the frozen park of Needham.

 

 Thank you so much for visiting, Kobi and Kathi! It was such a pleasure to have you. Time was way too short, but we look forward to spending a lot more time together in the summer.

The kids went to daycare for a few days between Christmas and New Year's so the parents could get some work done.

At daycare, we discovered some (old but) good news on the notice board (last paragraph).

Samu has been really into writing lately. He writes words, sentences, and even letters.

As if they knew about the Austrian saying "to slide into the New Year", Sofia and Samu built a slide down the stairs on the last day of 2015.

We are excited about the New Year's party!

The city of Boston offered a family celebration with a firework at 7pm on New Year's Eve - perfect for us!

Unfortunately Hanna mistakenly deleted the firework video from her phone, but luckily someone had posted a video of it on youtube. Enjoy!

The party continued at home with some marshmallow grilling.

Once the kids were in bed, the parents watched to ball drop, danced a waltz and turned in soon after as well.

To celebrate the New Year, we let the kids decide what they wanted to do for a few days - they really deserved that little treat. Their schedule of choice included some activities we would not have thought of, such as painting hands and chasing a blanket while being naked.

It also included a trip to the nearby indoor playground, where the whole family had a great time.

And, because the first days of 2016 were sunny and warm, we enjoyed long trips to the park. So far, 2016 has been very good to us. We hope you all feel the same!
