Summer is here. The best thing about it? We have more time for all kinds of family and couple activities. Marko has been a wonderful husband an excellent user of the extra time we have now. For example, he organized a beer tasting for just the two of us.
We learned so much about beer!
He has cooked incredible meals and has made it his mission to barbecue every day ...
and he has even brought home flowers from his shopping-for-grilling-equipment trips!
Last weekend we took a trip to the Lost Pond, also known as Frog Pond. As we hiked through the forest, ...
Samu took Sofia by her hand and made sure she didn't fall over any rocks or roots. He was so sweet! He also sang her a song ("... über Stock und über Steine, Sofia bricht sich nicht die Beine ...") and told her to watch out for bumps.
Arrived!
The frogs were surprisingly loud, which caused Sofia to say "loud frog, Mama" ("daute Fosch, Mama") all the way back. Can you find the noisemaker in the middle of the picture?
It was a perfect coincidence that Samu learned about frogs in daycare all week during "frog week".
On Wednesday night we went to Houghton Pond again.
And because we are not in a huge rush to leave in the morning, the kids have developed a ritual of strolling through the tall grass in our front yard every day before getting in the car.
The parents have developed a ritual of having a glass of wine in the backyard after the day is done.
And all those little things we can do now - visiting the beach on a regular weekday or ending the day in the backyard rather than in front of the computer - have made our life so much better. Thank you, summer!
