CATCHING UP

Time flies ... and with Marko out of town (in Boston, to secure his new position at BU), there was no time to blog. So here is an overview of the past weeks. Enjoy!

Spring was very pretty and very brief. For not much longer than a week, trees were in bloom, which was gorgeous.

Sofia is on the go all the time. Walking is her absolute favorite thing to do - besides looking out the window. She is a true mover!

Hanna had a dinner party with her former supervising colleagues and great friends. It was so nice to see you wonderful women again (and be in a fancy place downtown)!

Sofia loved clothes shopping with Isi.

To celebrate summer, Martha took Hanna for a motorcycle ride and the first swim of the season at gorgeous Cedar Lake. Perfect summer day!

We were so excited to see a new side of Samu last week. When his daycare got a delivery of woodchips for the playground, we volunteered to help spread them. This involved a lot of wheelbarrow and raking work. We could not believe how hard Samu worked. In contrast to all the other kids, who mostly played with the woodchips or watched a movie inside, he worked for 3 hours straight. We basically forced him to take a break. The whole time, he had a very serious expression on his face and hardly spoke at all. Other parents and his teachers were just as impressed as us.

When most people had already left, Samu stayed to clean the street. After a whole morning of working like a grown-up, he was sad to leave.

We also went on a family trip to Bloomington to do some bird watching. It was really fun! We saw egrets, red-winged blackbirds, and several other pretty creatures.

Ants!
Sofia loved the turtles.

Loon! (Minnesota's state bird)
Samu got to touch this little snake.
Samu has been drawing suns. Aren't they great?

Playing in our 'hood.

Another group of friends celebrating: Thank you to Tracey and Chelda for the invite to celebrate Chelda's defense. Congratulations, lady!

Visiting the Happy House - minus Ingrid, but with brand-new puppy Friday. We had a lovely evening. Thank you, friends!

And of course, once again, we visited Como Zoo and the surrounding area, where Samu ran until he could not run anymore, and Sofia closely investigated every blade of grass (and ate some).

Thank you also to Becca, Ryan, Erica, and Virgile and their kids for inviting us to a beautiful backyard-barbecue-evening. Such a fun night and sooo good to see you again and catch up, Erica & Virgile & kids!

Summer = pool time. After the Como Public Pool, this one in our backyard is our favorite one.

I hope this gives you an idea of what we've been up to. The next days will be mostly dedicated to moving and getting ready to leave and go to Europe. Wish us luck!
