Finally! Time to really celebrate Marko's birthday and get away from computers and cellphones for a long weekend in Door County, Wisconsin. They call it the Cape Cod of the Midwest, so we were curious to see this place.
The 6-hour drive was worrying us initially, but Samu gave us no reason to. He slept 5 out of 6 hours! :-)
Lunch break in Wausau's pretty city center
A 10-minute leg-stretching break in the middle of nowhere.
Just in time for a pretty sunset.
Our cabin
Samu loved the stairs. He crawled up all the way. That boy is freakishly strong.
Our cosy living room.
We spent most of day 2 on bikes riding through the Peninsula State Park. Even though it was a bit chilly, it was just what we needed: nature, quiet, beautiful scenery and just the three of us. Samu was a bit suspicious of the trailer at first but soon started to really enjoy it.
Eagle Bluff Lighthouse
Break at the beach.
That's one happy passenger.
In the evening Jenna and George arrived. Hurray! We celebrated Marko's birthday and spent many, many hours in the hot tub. That's right. We had a hot tub. Best way to spend the night with the best people.
The next day's trip to Cana Island and its lighthouse. We loved the views and landscapes.
Lighthouse love.
Find Marko and Samu.
Staying warm at the windy beach.
Beach games.
Strolling through historic Ephraim.
Back in Egg Harbor, Marko found another beautiful sunset.
The last day starts with America's best breakfast at the White Gull Inn. Cherry-stuffed French toast, anyone? Yummy.
Walk through the city in the sun.
Last pictures before starting the drive back. Goodbye, Door County! Thank you for a wonderful time!
Homeward bound.
