EVERYDAY LIFE

Our daily routine is very structured, and most of the time we like that, although there are also moments when we miss being as flexible as last year. It's a different life, and we are still getting used to it, but right now we are cautiously liking it.

Our new life involves a lot of driving. The kids have been great with it. Samu just comments on every truck he sees and Sofia usually naps.

Hanna taught her first classes. Great students, great atmosphere!

We love to be surrounded by street cars and buses again. Thumbs up for public transportation!
Hanna's office got its final overhaul, including decorations, ...
... a new computer (thank you IT man Dave), and ...
..., a cork board.
A good space to be productive. (Pictures of Marko's office are forthcoming...probably...)

During the day, we spend most of our time within the BU campus. It's pretty!
And it had some famous students.

There is a lot of work to be done around the house. One current project has been to plant better grass.

But the to-do list is still looooong ...
We also have some very cute company in the backyard.
Of course, the sad part of our life here is to miss important events like Benedikt and Verena's wedding. We thought about you a lot and wish you, once again, all the best for your life together.

DEDHAM CITY

We spend so much time in Boston, we thought it would be time to get to know our city Dedham.
It's cute!
Samu was sold after we saw this:

Pretty buildings along the main street.

And there is a toy/book store too ;-)

TOURISTS

Last weekend, we left our not-quite finished home and a ton of work behind to take a look at the city we have moved to: Boston. We liked what we saw - a lot!

We started out at Boston Common, a big public park, and moved on to the Public Garden.
Samu had been here before. He showed us where he had taken a swan boat ride with his new daycare.

Then he showed us the ducks.

We strolled through the old downtown.
Following parts of the Freedom Trail, which passes by most major sights.

Old City Hall
Cool architecture.

We caught a kids' event at the waterfront park.

And we did some people watching at Quincy Market.

And we finally saw the sea! Hello, Atlantic Ocean!

The best part was this huge wading pool in the middle of Boston downtown. Perfectly refreshing!

The following day, Hanna made something very Austrian for a party at her colleagues' house. This special and rare event needed to be documented:
The work week was intense, but good. That's us, going to school(s) every morning.

Samu did his first homework (!!) with enthusiasm.
Hanna decorated her office.
Sofia learned to spoon-feed herself.
And we waited for the next weekend to come.
When it was finally there, we made plans together and everyone agreed: We want to see the sea again!

Wooow! What a privilege to live so close to all this.
This is Carson Beach.

Back at home, we enjoyed some backyard (fresh)water games.

A very late birthday gift for Samu and Sofia: The sand and water table.

Yay! What a good weekend. We're officially ready for a new week. (At this point, we need to add that Samu has started to love his new daycare, and even Sofia is only mildly protesting at drop-off. Things are looking up indeed!)
