On the way to our newest family tradition - a vacation in Hüttau (Salzburg) - it is obvious that we are very excited.
Pretty views on the way.
As one of the first activities, Esther let us play with her giant bubble set. So much fun for all three generations!
We kept empty liquor bottle on top of the fire place. This is the "before" picture.
Getting started: eating, drawing, dancing ...
... and celebrating Oma's birthday! Happy birthday!
The gift for us all: An outdoor movie night, courtesy of Kobi. Thank you so much Kobi - what a treat!
And yes, there was a sauna!
The best way to spend the hot hot Austrian summer days is in the water - thankfully there was this little pond close-by.
Kobi & Kathi
Ice cream - yes please!
Happy kids and colors
Happy Benedikt and a gigantic steak
The kids were not allowed to cross the safety line in front of the grill.
Samu and Sofia have been absolutely fascinated by Franziska. We understand the fascination and affection and hope Franziska will keep her high tolerance for being touched and looked at.
Bath time - apparently in the 1970s.
The next day, the "big kids" were allowed to go on motorbike/car rides. Wow!
[add 1 pic of Samu & Elias]
But the adults did not get bored either.
Up we went to enjoy some hiking in the mountains.
Minimally impressed: Sofia
Totally impressed: Marko
Waiting for the "ghost train" to take us on a child-friendly adventure trip.
Good views, good mood.
While we were waiting for a thunderstorm to pass, we enjoyed some more car rides.
Thunderstorms can be so pretty.
The ghost village was a nice little hike through a small forest - it would have been even better without the (supposed-to-be-)scary parts. But since none of the kids seemed to be afraid, we consider this a success. The landscape, in fact the whole trip itself, was a big hit.
Time for a break.
Austrian delicacies
One of the nicest things (for us) about our family vacation are the different constellations of people that naturally emerge. And how, magically, they all seem to work.
As usual, the youngest generation still had energy left, so we let them bounce a little ...
... and go on more rides.
The evening movie "Pumuckl", an old Bavarian classic, did not resonate with everyone: Sofia was scared of the protagonist.
After three nights, we were not quite ready to leave this pretty area, so we stopped by our childhood lake ...
... Attersee!
Thank you to our whole family for making this event so special and memorable. Thank you Oma/Mama, Opa/Papa, Benedikt, Verena, Elias, Esther, Laurenz, Irene, Franziska, Kobi, Kathi, Samu & Sofia.
