To celebrate Hanna's first completed draft of her dissertation, Christmas approaching and, most importantly, our friendship with The Happy Family (Ben, Ingrid, Johanna & Klara), we spent a weekend in Chicago.
We got up at 3 am to catch a 6 am flight. *Yawn*
Row 11 was definitely the coolest row on the plane.
Sofia was enjoying her first flight as if she had done it a hundred times before.
More excitement: going by train!
The first view from our hotel room.
Strolling through the beautiful city.
The Aquarium
Waiting for the dolphin show.
A somewhat unexpected (and a little unnecessary) visit from Santa.
Getting seriously tired.
Back home after a successful day 1.
Day 2. Breakfast. Johanna and Samu were "eating monsters".
Sofia was catching up on some sleep.
Another highlight: The German/Austrian Christkindlmarket of Chicago.
Even the mugs!
After that we enjoyed a swim in the hotel pool.
And a nap in those cosy beds.
In the evening, Erica, Virgile, Nelson and Charles joined us. We were so excited! We had been missing them a lot after they had moved here in the fall. 12 people in one room and tons of stuff to eat and drink - what a party!!! :-)
Nelson and Samu drawing in the bathroom.
Sofia (5 months) and Charles (10 months)
Trying to take "a quick picture of all six of them".
There was lots of jumping on the bed before the party ended with 6 very tired children and 6 even more tired parents.
Day 3 started with a "phone call". Samu said it was for Sofia.
Another stroll through the city before we had to say good-bye.
Goodbye Chicago, good-bye wonderful friends! Thank you for this wonderful weekend. We had so much fun and will remember this trip for sure.
